Richard "Richie" Gonzales

Richard "Richie" Gonzales, 43, a resident of Las Cruces, NM and formerly of Luis Lopez, NMpassed away September 16, 2013 in Houston, TX at the Methodist Transplant Hospital after a long battle with heart failure. Richie was born in Socorro, NM on March 30, 1970 to Richard L. and Barbara J. (Anaya) Gonzales. Richie was a licensed Journeyman. He took great pride in this career path and was very proficient at it. Richie was to many, a wonderful friend with a warm smile, a memorable, infectious laugh and a big heart, who will forever be in our hearts.Everyone that knew Richie, knew he was the Washington Redskin's number one fan. Richie's greatest passion in life was his family. He and wife Candi, recently celebrated 25 years of marriage. To Candi, Richie was the greatest husband in the world. Through all of his pain with his illness he continued to smile and comfort his family. He was their strength. He was their rock. Richie was also a loving father to daughter, Shamari and to son, Brandon. Richie was preceded in death by his Great Grandmother, Paubilta Peralta;Grand Parents, David and Juanita Gonzales; Aunt, Letia Mendoza; and his Sister-in-law, Heidi Welch. Richie is survived by his grandmother, Vitalia Peralta of Luis Lopez, parents, Richard and Barbara Gonzales of Luis Lopez, his loving wife, Candi, daughter Shamari and son, Brandon Gonzales of Las Cruces; brothers, Mackie Gonzales of Luis Lopez and Billy Savedra of Socorro; sister Talitha Anaya and husband, Sefie of Socorro; mother-in-law, Jeanne Martinez of Las Cruces; and father and mother-in-law, Charlie and Barbara Benjamin of Las Cruces; and many loving Aunts, Uncles, nephews and nieces and many, many cousins who all loved Richie very much. A viewing will be held on Sunday evening at the Daniels Family Funeral Home located at 309 Garfield St., Socorro, NM from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A rosary will be held on Monday, September 23, 2013 at San Miguel Catholic Church, 403 El Camino Real, Socorro, NM at 8:30 am followed by a Mass of Resurrection to celebrate Richie's life at 9:00 am. Pallbearers are Manual Barreras, Mackie Gonzales, Joe Gallegos, Larry Gonzales, Billy Savedra and Lance Welch. Honorary pallbearers are Dylan Gallegos, Laci Welch, Tivonne Anaya, Michael Anaya, Elrich Savedra, Roddy Mendoza and David Silva. Home at last, Richie will be laid to rest at the San Jose Cemetery "Only in Luis Lopez".
