BACA-Robert Anthony Baca, Sr., 76, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, NM, went to be with our Heavenly Father on Tuesday, April 21, 2009, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his parents Ramon V. and Estella Baca and his son Danny Phillip Baca. He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Lucarita Baca, his son Robert A. Baca, Jr. and wife Lori, his daughter; Evangeline Smith and husband Mark, his four grandchildren; Jeremy Sheldrake and wife Melissa, Heather Smith and boyfriend Chris Fraser, Garrett Smith and Magdalena "Maggie" Baca, Maggie's mom Shelly Goodman and husband Bert, his sisters; Rose Lovato and Eddie Chavez, Corina Martinez, Vicky Moya, Theresa Trujillo and Priscilla Anaya and husband Laco, his brother Leroy Baca, sister-in-law, Sylvia Baca his brothers and sisters-in-law; Carmen Mora and husband Mike, Lucy Melo, Edwin Gonzales and wife Margaret, Grace Lerma and husband Frank, Leroy Gonzales and wife Barbara, Eloisa Gonzales. Robert, Sr. was an usher at Holy Ghost Catholic Church where he was a parishioner since 1958, he was a Navy Veteran who proudly served his nation during the Korean era. He worked at the VA Hospital for over 29 years before retiring. He also worked with the Boy Scouts of America for 20 years. Most of all Robert loved his family, with whom he spent his Sundays, with breakfast after church and afternoons spent watching NFL Football and Indy car racing. Robert's family would like to extend their gratitude to Dr. Dennie Jones and staff, Vista Care Hospice staff and a special thank you also to Lam Tran, RN. Pallbearers will be Chris Fraser, Garrett Smith, Jeremy Sheldrake, Mark Gonzales, Frank Lerma and Eddie Chavez. Honorary Pallbearers will be Joe Chavez and Glenn Melo.
