Major Robert H. Bennett, USAF retired. Born: Phoenix, AZ. Nov 10, 1929. Died: Aug 26, 2015. Preceeded in death by his wife of 50 years, Mary Bennett and his eldest daughter, Kathryn Pilnock. Survived by his brother, Donald Bennett of AZ, 4 children: JoAnn Rosch, Robert Bennett, Douglas Bennett, Lori Merrill, many grandchildren, and great grandchildren who loved him dearly and will miss him greatly. He grew up in Phoenix and joined the U.S. Air Force in 1950. He served in the Korean War, Cold War and Vietnam War, piloting an F-105 in 100 missions over N. Vietnam. He was awarded the Silver Star, the Distinguished Flying Cross with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters, the Air Medal with 13 Oak Leaf Clusters, the Korean Campaign Medal, and Vietnam Service Medal. He retired Honorably from the USAF in 1970. He worked for several years with the FAA, and then flew for Cutter Flying Service for 18 years before retiring. Later he enjoyed his large collection of bicycles, riding the Tramway Bike Path for several miles a day. He loved his family, airplanes, and his dogs. He was a member of the “RIVER RATS”, Red River Valley Fighter Pilots Assoc., and the DAV. “CHECK SIX”. Funeral service will be held at 10:30am on Monday, August 31, 2015 at Daniels Family Funeral Services~Wyoming Chapel, 7601 Wyoming Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM. A reception will follow the services at the Wyoming Reception Center. Interment will be held at 2:15pm, on Monday, August 31, 2015 at Santa Fe National Cemetery, Santa Fe, NM.
