Robert Hudson "Bob" Pyeatt, 83, of Aztec, passed away early Friday, July 1, 2011, at San Juan Regional Medical Center in Farmington, after a courageous battle with cancer. Bob was born March 5, 1928, in Clyde, Texas, the son of Russell Mason and Zadie Eads Pyeatt. Bob and Grace Stevenson were high school sweethearts, marrying June 26, 1948. Bob and Grace recently celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary. In 1952, Bob and Grace moved to Farmington, where he worked for El Paso Natural Gas for 37 years. In 1983, Bob retired as a field superintendent. Bob leaves behind his wife, Grace; two sons, Russ and Sam (Lisa); six grandchildren, Derrick Pyeatt, Katie Pyeatt, Alyssa (Jordan) Webb, Laura (Sam) Sowards, Jake Pyeatt, Josh Pyeatt; one great-grandchild, Ava Pyeatt; and a sister-in-law, Bernice Pyeatt of Clyde, Texas. Bob requested that there be no funeral services. He was a very private man and did not want the "slow marching and sad songs." His ashes will be spread at the family farm near Abilene, Texas. The family would like to thank Dr. Bill Barkman. Bill was always there when the need was the greatest.
