Chall, Robert W.  Sr.

“Bob” was born in Detroit, Michigan on July 8, 1921 to Louis and Bertha Chall. He was called home by our Lord and Savior on August 13, 2015 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Bob was raised in Detroit with his brothers Elmer and Louis and sister Thelma. He graduated from high school and was installed into the Masonic Lodge in Detroit, Michigan. He served honorably in the US Army Air Corp during the European Theatre of World War II from 1942 until his discharge from Potsdam, Germany in 1946. He served as a Computer Tabulation Machine Repairman and achieved the rank of Corporal. Upon returning to Detroit after the war he worked at Ford Motor Company where he met and married Veva Ford in 1947. Together they raised their four children Robert Jr., Roger, Dawn and Thomas Chall in Royal Oak, Michigan. Veva was later hired by Kelley Services as a Project Leader for Sandia Corporation’s Library Computerization Project which made it necessary for the family to move to Albuquerque, NM in 1959. After twenty one years of marriage Bob moved to Bernalillo, NM. He later married “the love of his life” Louise Loomis Chavez in 1977. They led a very happy life together enriched by lots of loving family and friends. He was a 19 year member of American Legion Post 99 and the Masonic Lodge in Albuquerque. Bob worked for the Bernalillo Public Schools System retiring after over 20 years of service. They liked to travel and were able to visit many friends and family before Louise became chronically ill. Bob patiently cared for Louise praying for her to be cured. Sadly, she left us too soon passing away in 2001 after 24 years of marriage. Bob has been a widower for almost fifteen years. Over the years Bob frequently visited Louise’s gravesite leaving flowers and a prayer. One of the things that bothered him the most about his own health decline was that he could not physically get to her gravesite. He mourned Louise until the day he died. Keeping her pictures on his nightstand in the nursing home. He is preceeded in death by his parents, brother Elmer Chall, sister Thelma Sisco (Chuck), Ex-wife Veva Ford-Chall and his beloved wife Louise Chall. He is survived by his brother Louis Chall (Heidi), children Robert Chall Jr. (Robin), Roger Chall, Dawn Chall, Thomas Chall (Patricia), Laura Hartsock, Frank “Kiko” Chavez (Bonnie), George Chavez (Gloria), Louis Chavez (Cathy) and Connie Vick (Ray). He is also survived by many beloved grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Service will be held on Friday, August 21, 2015 at 10:30am at Daniels Family Funeral Services Sara Chapel.  Interment to follow at Vista Verde Memorial Park.
