Robert M. Dorak
1931-2018
Robert, fondly called “Bob” or “Captain Bob”, age 86, passed away Monday, April 30, 2018 after a courageous battle with bladder cancer.
Bob was an educator, administrator, husband, father, and grandfather. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fly fishing, boating at Elephant Butte Lake, and wood working in his wood shop. He enjoyed traveling the world and taking pictures of his many destinations.
Bob came to New Mexico from New Jersey as an Air Force Sergeant during the Korean War where he served at Sandia and Manzano military bases from 1952-1956. Afterwards he stayed in the Land of Enchantment, making New Mexico his home.
He was a graduate of the University of New Mexico, earning a BS in Industrial Arts Education in 1960 and a Master’s degree in Educational Administration in 1967. After teaching at Sandia High School, he went on to be the Associate Day Division Director at Albuquerque Tec hnical Vocational Institute, now known as CNM, from 1970-1988. After retiring from TVI, he went to Crownpoint (New Mexico) Institute of Technology, now known as Navajo Technical College, where he served as Vice-President and President from 1988-1994.
Bob is survived by his wife Patricia Dorak; children Mark Dorak and Kathy Swanson and husband, Tom; two grandchildren Christine Swanson and Danielle Swanson; and sister Audrey Rockwell, from New Jersey.

A visitation will be held Saturday, May 5th from 3:00-5:00pm for friends and family at Daniels Wyoming Chapel, 7601 Wyoming Blvd NE.
