Robert Eugene Griego Sr. passed away on Friday, March 5th, 2021 at the age of 59.
Robert is survived by mother, Carmelita Griego of Albuquerque, NM; wife, Dolores Griego; sons, Robert E. Griego Jr., wife Shamaine and Brandon Griego, wife Celina; daughter, Andrea Griego, fiancé Christopher J. Mora Jr.; the mother of his three kids, MaryAnn Griego; stepsons, Luciano Crespin, wife Crystal and Lucas Crespin; brothers, Jerome Griego, wife Dalia and Eric Griego; 17 grandchildren; 1 dog of 13 years, Lobo Griego and several farm animals. He is preceded in death by his father, Leonides “Nilo” Griego and his brother, Johnny Griego.
Robert was born on May 8th 1961 in Albuquerque, New Mexico to Leonides and Carmelita Griego. He graduated from Valley High School in 1980. He attended Central New Mexico Community College and graduated with an Associates degree. He married Dolores Austin on September 23, 2017 in Los Ranchos de Albuquerque, New Mexico. He worked at Sandia National Laboratories for 33 years.
Robert is known as a farmer, a jack of all trades, a leader, no matter where he goes, he pays it forward. He is influential person and mentored several people at Sandia National Laboratories. Robert had many passions that everyone seen him do at all times: dancing, singing to Spanish music, hunting, fishing, camping, and traveling. He was the life of the party wherever he went. His faith led him to be a member of the Nativity of Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church. He taught catechism for over 10 years while his kids were growing up.
He will be truly missed.

A visitation will take place at the Church of the Incarnation in Rio Rancho, New Mexico on Monday, March 22, 2021 from 6:30-7:30pm. A rosary will follow from 7:30-8:30pm. A mass is scheduled for Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at 11 am at the Church of the Incarnation. Due to Covid there will be no reception.
