Colonel Robert Earl Haney USAF (Retired), lovingly referred to as “Mr Earl”, was born in Campaign, Illinois on July 17, 1932 and received his angel wings on Wednesday, November 22, 2023. Earl entered in the United States Air Force in February 1952 and became a masterful fighter pilot, achieving the honorable rank of Colonel upon retirement in May 1982. His most notable accomplishments include a combat tour during the Vietnam War, serving on the USAF Air Demonstration Squadron commonly known as the Thunderbirds from 1965 to 1967, and serving as the test organization commander at Holloman Air Force Base in Alamogordo, New Mexico from 1980 to 1982. Earl touched many lives in his military career and in his civilian life afterward. He was deeply loved by his family and friends and will be greatly missed.
