Robert James Casaus

May 3, 1961 — December 17, 2023

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Robert J. Casaus, age 62, on December 17, 2023.  Robert was born on May 3, 1961 in Albuquerque, New Mexico.  Robert went peacefully to his eternal home surrounded by his loving family.  He is survived by his wife Barbara of 27 years; sister Maria Kramer, husband Bill; nephew Ryan Kramer; stepsons, Dean Trujillo, wife Ginger; Randy Trujillo, partner Nichol; granddaughters, Jade and Coral; grandson, Braden and a large extended family. He was preceded in death by his mother, Gloria Freelove; stepfather, Kenneth Freelove; biological father, Robert U. Casaus; and son, Robert Victor Casaus III.  Robert left behind his faithful dog, Paco, whom he loved.

Robert was raised and spent the majority of his life in Cuba, New Mexico, a community he loved dearly. He loved life and lived it to the fullest.   Robert enjoyed the outdoors and spent as much time as possible fishing and camping.  He always had time for a good joke, loud music, dancing, and playing cards.   Robert was an avid collector of anything that was interesting to him. He also loved cars and dreamt of being in a drag race someday. Family was very important to him and he looked forward to each and every family gathering.

Robert had many trades; he worked as a hairdresser, bartender, smelter, oil field hand, and ranch hand.

Robert’s Catholic faith was immense and a priority in his life. He never liked to say, “goodbye” because that meant forever; instead, he always said, “later.” He will always be remembered for his generosity, kindness and his amazing love. From all of us, “Later Robert.”
