Robert J. Romero, age 65 went home to The Lord on April 13, 2024 surrounded by his wife, children and grandchildren.
Born to Rubel and Lucy Romero on July 12, 1958 Robert was a lifelong resident of Algodones, NM. Robert was the 6th out of 11 children. The Romero's are such a tight knit family, many times the brothers were together helping each other build or remodel, always doing it together. Robert and sisters enjoyed spending quality time together, they spoiled him and he cherished every moment. His siblings were his best friends, they were dependable, loyal to each other and he had a special bond with each of them.
Robert was proud to serve his country as a LCpl in the USMC, 4th recon division. During his time in the Marine Corps, he excelled and was awarded the rifle marksman badge. After his service Robert wore many different hats including becoming a small business owner, a welder, working in the Athletic Department at Bernallilo Public Schools and finally ending his career with the Bernalillo Water Department.
In August 1979 Robert married the love of his life, Anne Brady and together they built a family and life full of love and laughter. True to their vows, in sickness and in health they took care of one another, prayed and found comfort in each other’s arms. Robert was a devoted husband and a loving father to his two children, Cherilynn and Anthony. He was quick to lend a hand, offer a hug, or make them laugh. He was reliable, true to his word, generous, gentle yet tough. He was the very best dad.
A proud Poppo Robert had eight grandchildren. He spent the last 21 years loving them, playing games, coloring, going on walks, offering advice and spoiling them. He truly was their best friend and confidant.
A faithful servant of Our Lord, Robert never complained but rather trusted in God to comfort him during his times of sickness and sorrow. We take comfort in the belief that Robert is now walking with the Lord and Savior that he loved so much.
Robert is survived by his wife, Anne Brady-Romero; daughter, Cherilynn Vigil and husband David; son, Anthony; grandchildren, Jaden, Sara, Emma, G, Sailor Rose, Grace, Enoch and Scarlett; brothers, Steve (Elaine), Leo (Tina), Andrew (Bonnie); sisters, (Martha); Kathy Martinez (Juan), Tina Romero, Lisa Pribble (Gary), Camille Kloeppel (Michael), Michelle Rodriguez (Robert); brothers-in-law, Mike Brady (Annette), Lawrence Brady; sisters-in-law, Debbie Hood (Jeff), Lorraine Brady, Frances Montoya (Felix); Auntie Isabel and Uncle Fred Branson; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
