Robert J Mercek

MERCEK - Robert J. Mercek, 82, went to be with his Lord and Savior on November 22, 2009. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Alma; son, Robert Moreno of Albuquerque, daughter, Margarette Moody and husband Mike of Bosque Farms, daughter, Kathryn Johnson and husband Larry of Los Lunas, son, Richard Mercek and wife Bonnie of Rio Rancho; 9 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren and sister Eleanor Cook and husband Ken of OH. Bob was proud to have served his country in the Merchant Marines. He continued his service in the Air Force and Army Reserves, retiring at the rank of Sergeant Major. Bob then went on to work as a police officer for the Albuquerque Police Department, retiring after 25 years of service in 1975 as a Sergeant. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and traveling. Most recently, his favorite pastime was spending time at various local casinos.
