Robert John Podnar

Robert John Podnar, 70, peacefully passed away in Albuquerque on July 27, 2016.  John was born on September 17, 1945 in Hancock, MI (Yooper).  He is survived by his wife, Patricia, sister Joilyn who lives in Houghton, MI.  Son, Kristopher Podnar and wife Amy, daughter Katie. Daughter Beth Whiston and husband Frank, daughters Kimberly and Rebecca. Son, Andrew Podnar and wife Julie, sons Chad and Devon.  John played football for Hancock High School located in the Upper Peninsula of MI.  He continued to be a football fan throughout his life.  Go Packers!  After graduating High School, John served in the United States Air Force 1965-1969.  His service brought him to Luke Air Force Base in Glendale, AZ where he met his wife of 50 years, Patricia.  John graduated from Arizona State University in 1972 with a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing. His career took him to North Carolina, then back to the Phoenix area and eventually to Albuquerque, NM.  John never met a stranger; his favorite moments were those spent with his family and friends.  He took his family on many camping trips, creating lasting memories that are still talked about today.   He will be laid to rest at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.  Family members are planning a celebration of John’s life at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in John’s name to the American Diabetes Association.
