MacLeod, Robert R. (Dr. Bob)
69, passed away peacefully the morning of October 10, 2015. He was born in Wilmington, DE on July 12, 1946 to George and Kate (Jump) MacLeod. In 1969, Bob was drafted into the United States Army. Although it was not what he wanted, he answered the call and served his country. In 1971, Bob came to Socorro to help his brother George open Tastee Freeze, and later partnered with his brother running Radio Shack. Bob earned his Bachelor’s degree in electronics and worked for many different governmental entities. He was a master electronic technician, he could fix anything and many would turn to Dr. Bob for assistance. Bob was full of mischief and had a great sense of humor. He never angered and was simply an easy going, kind and gentle man. Although he and Maureen did not have children of their own, they loved them and loved to spoil their nieces, nephews, and the children of their close friends. He loved the outdoors, exploring the wild places of New Mexico. He loved the mountains and forests. He enjoyed nothing more than finding time with Maureen to camp, hike, and 4-wheel. He especially enjoyed spending time in the San Juan Mountains of Colorado. Bob loved wildlife, snakes, lizards and turtles. He had a keen sense to safely handle and protect rattlesnakes. He will be greatly missed and live on in the hearts of all those that knew him. He was truly one of a kind. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, George MacLeod Jr. Bob is survived by his devoted wife and best friend of 23 years, Maureen Wilks; his niece, Amy MacLeod Turner and husband, Bryan; his nephew, Jason MacLeod and wife, Lisa Worley; his great nephews, Lucas and Jacob Turner; and his sister in law, Barbara MacLeod. Bob will also be greatly missed by his brother in laws, David Wilks and wife, Jenny, nephews Andrew and Stephen; Bernard Wilks; and Andrew Wilks and wife, Carol, niece Rebecca and nephew Simon; the Aiken-Weaver-Cases Family; and many other close and special friends. As were Bob's wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of his life will be held this coming spring. To view information or leave a condolence, please visit www.danielsfuneral.com.
