Ramberg, Robert J (Bob), age 92, died Tuesday, 11/12/13 after a brief illness. Born John Lewis McGraw, 9/30/1921 in Norway, Michigan, to Gertrude (Charem) McGraw and John T. McGraw. He was adopted in 1922 by Christ and Jennie (Belsvik) Ramberg of Duluth, MN, and was raised in a household full of step-brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews. He received his high school diploma from Central High School and studied Business Administration at Duluth Junior College before enlisting in the Army. Bob enlisted on August 10, 1942, graduated from Officer Candidate School, Fort Sill, OK, and served his country with honors during World War II. He was a veteran of the 30th Infantry Division - the Work Horse of the Western Front and was very proud of his contributions in Northern France and Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe. Bob was widowed twice. He was married to Eliza Ruth McMurry from December 1943 until her death in 1982. Together they had four children, three of whom he outlived. Son, Michael Reed Ramberg 12/16/44 2/6/78, Daughter, Toni Ellis (Tena) LaBarthe 10/30/46 3/1/02 Daughter, Regan T. Swinehart Daughter, Mindy Christian Dinsmore 8/23/53 12/19/07 Bob and Ruth took in stray kids as well, but somehow their 2-bedroom home in the north valley was never overcrowded it was simply cozy. He married Lila Mae (Maloof) (Halusco) in 1983. She passed away February 14, 2010, and Bob grieved her mightily. During their 27-year marriage, they opened up their home to numerous kids, grandkids, stray kids, and even a few mutts, providing good food, warm beds, comfortable laps, and a home base when life threw curve balls and did we mention good food. Bob took great pride in his marriages, with good reason. He also enjoyed success as a businessman and worked in varied fields throughout his career: finance, repo-man, salesman, and financial director for various Albuquerque firms. He thoroughly enjoyed repairing broken businesses. Bob is survived by his daughter, Regan and her husband, Steve Swinehart, his step-son, Andrue Halusco, and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. The family is hosting a Wake in celebration of this mans life well-lived on Saturday, November 23, 2013 at Bobs home, starting at 3:00 pm.
