Robert Wesley Schroeder
October 5, 1921 - September 11, 2009
Robert Wesley Schroeder of Farmington passed away at his home in the early hours of Friday morning. Bob was born in Wiley, Colorado to Albert Gustav and Savola Iola (Cole) Schroeder. His family later moved to Las Animas, Colorado where he attended Bent County High School, graduating in 1939.
Bob served as a B-17 pilot with the 306th bomber group (H) in Great Britain and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal, and Bronze Star. Bob graduated with an electrical engineering degree from Colorado A&M (CSU) and worked for thirty years as a petroleum engineer for Standard Oil of Indiana , (AMOCO, later British Petroleum.) Bob was an avid golfer, sailor and photographer.
Bob and Anna Maxine Randolph were married on Valentine's Day, 1944. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Albert and James, and his son Robert, Jr. Bob is survived by his beloved Anna; sisters Iola Woods and Jennie Crays; son Nicholas and wife Cathie; daughters Kathryn Anderson, Gretchen Moon and husband John, and Mary Bacon and six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
