Roger Wayne Geiken

Roger Wayne Geiken, USN (ret.) (1937-2013) Roger Wayne Geiken (Pete) was born July 30, 1937 in Gothenburg, NE. Roger, a Vietnam Veteran, served 22 years in the U.S. Navy. He also farmed in the Platte River Valley near Cozad, Nebraska for many years. During his service he served on many ships and as a recruiter for the U.S. Navy. Roger was a member of the American Legion Post in Blue Springs, Missouri. At his death he was living in Albuquerque, NM with his sister, Beverly Jackson, having moved from Blue Springs, MO where he lived with his wife Carrie for many years. Roger is the son of Lloyd Wayne Geiken and Rena Alice Geiken of Cozad, NE and the brother of Patricia Cunningham of Cozad, NE and Beverly Jackson of Albuquerque, NM. Roger is survived by his sister, Beverly Jackson and her husband Elmer; his brother-in-law Eugene Cunningham of Cozad, NE; his nieces Melanie Muirhead of Albuquerque, NM and her husband Tom; and Kathy Jacobs of Cozad and her husband, Randy. He is also survived by his nephews Eric Muirhead of Albuquerque, NM, Chris Muirhead of Albuquerque, NM and his wife Megan, Doug Cunningham of Lexington, NE and his wife Ellen and his nephew David Cunningham of Rock Springs, Wyoming and his wife Lori. He is also survived by the children of his nieces and nephews and by many friends. Roger was preceded in death by wife, Carrie, his parents and by his sister Patricia and his nephew Bill Muirhead. He will be interred at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery, Higginsville, Missouri. Roger's family is grateful for the services provided to Roger during his illness at St. Mary's Hospital in Lee's Summit, MO and the VA Hospital in Kansas City, MO. We are especially grateful to all the medical and support staff at the Veterans Hospital in Albuquerque, NM. The gentle kindnesses and the alleviation of his suffering made Roger's final voyage peaceful and calm. Memorials in memory of Roger may be shared with the charity of your choice.
