Funeral services for Roland Freeman Skeets, 49, will be 10 a.m., Friday, Dec. 10, at Cope Memorial Chapel, Gallup. Burial will be in family burial site, Red Water Pond. Visitation will be following services. Skeets was born into the Sleep Rock People Clan for the Red Running Into the Water People Clan. Skeets worked for City Police, Anasazai Traders, Legend Buffing, was a western security guard and for NCI. He was well known for being a certified auto mechanic. Survivors include his wife, Louise M. Skeets of Brimhall; sons, Bryland Skeets, Roland Skeets Jr., Brian Skeets, Darvin Skeets, of Pinedale; daughters, Rolanda Skeets, Sheleen Skeets, Rolavine Skeets of Pinedale; step-children, Walter Dahozy of Brimhall, Sylvia Dahozy of Tohajiilee, Johnny Joe Jr. of Albuquerque, Jackson Joe of Brimhall, Jason Joe of Tuscon, Jay Joe of Brimhall, Sheiva Joe of Brimhall, Jasmine Joe of Brimhall; brother, Peter K. Houston of Lupton; sisters, Wangie Sherman of Mesa, Sarah K. Houston of Phoenix, Regina S. Skeets of Lupton; 12 step-grandchildren. Skeets was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin Freeman Skeets, Sadie T. Skeets; grandmothers, Rita Baker, Edna Skeets. Pallbearers will be Walter Dahozy, Jackson Joe, Herbert Bitsilly, Oliver Begay, Ronald Dawes, Don Sam. The family will receive relatives and friends at Red Water residence, following services.
