Romelia Bustamante

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Romelia Bustamante, 92 passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 20, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Romelia was born in La Mesa, New Mexico on November 12, 1932, to Jose and Pablita Reyes.

Romelia was a pillar of strength and comfort. She lived a life driven by faith and service, always putting the needs of others before herself. In her professional life Romelia was a cook in the school lunch rooms, and in her personal life, was a devoted homemaker and farmers wife. She was truly the heart of her family in every sense of the word. Romelia was a devout Catholic and served her church for decades singing in the choir.

She was greeted at the gates of heaven by her parents, her loving husband Clemente, her daughter Ingrid, son Kenneth, five brothers and two sisters. She is survived by her devoted children, Eddie (Jeanette) of Albuquerque, NM, Brenda (Pat) Coughlin of Las Cruces, NM, Paul Bustamante of Polvadera, NM and sister Yolanda Reyes Mirabal of Las Vegas, NV. She is also survived and cherished by sixteen grandchildren, twenty-eight great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Romelia had a heart of gold which led her to be the staple of the community, she will be deeply missed by many. A visitation will take place on Wednesday, April 2, 2025 at Daniels Family Funerals, from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. on 309 Garfield Street, Socorro, NM. The Holy Rosary will be recited on Thursday, April 3, 2025, at 9:30 a.m. at the San Miguel Catholic Church in Socorro followed by the Mass of Resurrection, and interment at San Lorenzo Catholic Cemetery in Polvadera, NM with a reception to follow. Pallbearers are Paul Bustamante, Jr., Matthew Bustamante, Brandon Coughlin, Dominick Coughlin, Cristian Bustamante and Kenneth Bustamante II. Honorary Pallbearers are Jeremy Herrera, Brittany McDaniel, Diego Herrera, Clemente Bustamante, Levi Bustamante and Andrew Degler. Romelia’s care has been entrusted to Daniel’s Family Funeral Services.
