Cannizzaro, Rosario Joseph (Joe)
Age, 92 of Rio Rancho New Mexico for the past 31 years passed away on October 16th, 2015. Joe was born on June 5th, 1923 in Brooklyn New York to Nicolo and Epifania Cannizzaro. He was preceded in death by his parents, his older brother Victor, younger brother Salvatore and brother-in-laws James Sexton and Tom Hourican. Joe is survived by his sister Rose Hourican, his sister-in-law Jean Cannizzaro, his wife of 40 years Gayle, his children Paul & Jan Lemmons of Arizona, Kevin & Crystal Lemmons of South Carolina and Lisa Lemmons of New Mexico; brother-in-laws Robert & Dee Sexton of Arizona and Neol & Joyce Sexton of Texas; sister-in-law Darlene Sexton of Wyoming as well as seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Joe entered college after high school but interrupted his education to join the Navy where he served for 8 years participating in both World War II and the Korean war, attaining the rank of Aviation Machinist's Mate Third Class, V-6. After leaving the Navy he worked for Grumman Aerospace of Long Island NY and at the same time resumed his education, completing his master's degree in engineering at Long Island University in 1971. At Grumman he participated in the engineering design of both the F-14 Tomcat Jet Fighter and the Space Shuttle. Most notably though, Joe loved his family and his God and was equally loved in return. Mass will be held at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 1502 Sara Road SE, Rio Rancho, NM at 10:30am on Monday, October 26, 2015. A Military Interment will follow the Mass at Daniel's Funeral Home at 4310 Sara Road, Rio Rancho NM.
