Marie Romero

Marie dedicated over 30 years of service as a mail carrier for the US Postal Service, endearing herself to colleagues and customers she served loved and adored their "favorite mail carrier." 

Marie loved sitting in her beautiful backyard with her puppies, doing puzzles, quilting her beautiful blankets, or hosting fun BBQs for all her friends and family.  Adorned in pictures, her home was a testament to her love for her family and friends, making her home full of love, laughter, joy, and many memories.  

Marie is survived by her devoted husband, Richard Romero, and her loving stepsons, Richard Jr. "Ricky" Romero, Norm (Miura) Romero, her adored daughter, Valerie (Bill) Sanchez-Spata, and her "angel" Jackie (Miguel) Horta. Marie was a cherished Nana to Christine (Gilles), Nevaeh, Joseph, Bill Jr, Emily, Sedona, Marissa, Raquel, Matthew, and Sammy.  Marie's caring brothers, Victor(Rosa) Saiz, Joe (Juanita) Saiz, Sam (Rachel) and Albert (Sue) Saiz, and brother-in-law Chris Garcia, sisters Patsy (Joe) Montoya, Veronica (Mike) Valencia, and Kathy Sanchez.  Marie loved and adored all her cousins, nieces, and nephews with all her heart.  

Marie was preceded in death by her parents, Pat & Cecilia Saiz, and her sister, Jeannine Garcia.  

Marie's legacy of love, family, helping others, riding around in her beloved red Volkswagon beetle, and beautiful smile will forever be treasured by all who knew her.  Her absences will be deeply felt by all her family and her many friends from childhood to the donut shop. 

Services for Marie will take place on Tuesday, January 16, 2024

at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 5415 Fortuna Rd NW Albuquerque, NM 87105. A Visitation will occur at 10:30 am and be followed by a Memorial Service at 11:00 am, with a reception to follow.
