Rosemary Gurule Garcia, passed away on November 11, 2022, at the age of 80. Rosemary was lovingly known as “Mama Rose” and “Auntie Rosie” to her close family members and her Home Health Care team and Doctors. She was born in May and loved the fact that her birthstone was an Emerald.
Rosemary is survived by her special “Bro”, Eddie S Garcia, brother-in-law, her “Daughter\Niece”, Linda Garcia Benavides (Gilbert), her special nieces, Loretta (Luvin) Contreras, Dolores (Noel) Schlachter, Christina (Martin) Nuanes, and Patsy (Bruce) Gottschalk; Sisters-in-law, Dora Moya, Francela Mari, and Connie Reed, and brother-in-law Hignio Garcia.
She was also blessed with so many other nieces and nephews. She was blessed with her Special Friends, Josie Contreras, Josie Martinez; her “Primas” Victoria and Priscilla Garcia, Mine’ Seniye and Beth Sanchez (Her Best Friend). She had her “Adopted” Grandchildren, Nicolas (Maggie) Benavides, Elena (Cole) Sweetser and Alysse (Kyle) Houliston and her “adopted Great Grandchildren”, Poppy Rae, Kian Eddie and Lalito. They loved her with all of their hearts.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Serafin “Sam” Garcia; her parents, Nicolas T. Gurule and Guadalupe L. Gurule, and by all of her siblings, Her Sisters: Christina Baca, Della Garcia, Dulcie Silvas, Annie Garcia, and Daisy Nuanes; Brothers: Luciano Gurule, Frank Gurule, Epifano Gurule, Johnny Gurule, and Patricio Gurule and so many other family members that passed away. She missed and loved her dog in Heaven, “Poopsie”.
Rosemary lived a happy life filled with such love, joy and laughter. She loved going to family gatherings and looked forward to the weekend BBQs, weekly dinners, Holidays and just getting together. She loved to dance, loved music and an occasional Margarita or Mojito. She loved going to the Casino to play Keno, but once COVID hit, she couldn’t go anymore and really missed it. She was always involved in helping at church activities, she was an SNMDMP2 member, an American Legion Post 69 Auxiliary member, and she loved to volunteer at various functions. She loved going out to eat at different restaurants, but her favorite food was enchiladas, tostadas, and BBQ.
Rosemary loved to dance and grew up dancing with many of her nieces and cousins. At home, she’d have the radio on full blast dancing by herself. She sure missed her husband Sam when he passed away, and was devastated when she lost her sisters and brothers. But, she was lifted up by her family members and many good friends and she was never alone. She spent a lot of quality time with her “Daughter\Niece” Linda and the family. She was a loving, joyful and generous person. She was never selfish and always thought of others. She loved her family with all of her heart.
When she got diagnosed with Cancer, she took it in stride and was very polite to her Legacy Home Health caretakers at home and at the Cancer center. She would take them a surprise for every treatment. Her favorite snack during her treatments was Cheetos! She had good days, and bad days, but never lost her sense of happiness and love. She was well taken care of by her Nurses Patsy and Amanda, her caretakers, her loving family, loving neighbors, friends, and her special nieces and nephews.
She lived a happy life in her home which she loved. It was everything she wanted. She was truly an Angel here on earth but obviously God needed another Angel and called her to her home in heaven. She is now happy and joyful. She is no longer sick, and is with her husband Sam, her sister Della and all of her siblings. They waited for her with open arms. She will continue to watch over all of us. Don’t be sad for her, be happy with her. She lived a good life.
Luvin Contreras, Noel Schlachter, Martin Candelaria, Luciano Gurule Jr., Nick Silvas, Nicolas Benavides, Kyle Houliston, and Cole Sweetser will serve as Pallbearers.
Eddie Garcia Sr., Eddie Garcia Jr., Hignio Garcia, Bill Sanchez, Gilbert Gallegos, and Bruce Gottschalk will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
