Roy Otto Gates

GATES- Reverend LeRoy Otto Gates, age 93, went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, July 06, 2011 at 4:00 a.m. Rev. LeRoy Gates built and was the pastor of the Polvadera Assembly of God Church for 41 years. “Roy” as everyone called him, was born January 31, 1918 to William and Sarah (Lyle) Gates in Kearney, Nebraska. He is survived by loving daughters Lila LeCrone, of Forth Worth, TX; Darlene Tucker and husband, Tommie of Polvadera, NM; Sarah Lee Hodgins and husband, Joe T. of Williamsburg, NM; his daughter-in-law Sandie Gates of Edgewood, NM; and was the grandfather of thirteen grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Roy was resident of New Mexico since the age of fifteen. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 68 years, Urshel Gates; one son Buster Gates, two daughters Susie and Sue Angeline Gates; son-in-law Ted LeCrone; two grandsons Ted LeCrone Jr. and Murphy Gates. A Visitation will be held 11:30 am - 1:00 pm, Saturday, July 9, 2011 at the Family Christian Center, 1016 Fowler Street, Socorro, NM. Funeral Services will be held 1:00 pm, Saturday, July 9,2011at Family Christian Center with Rev. Paul Blankenship, Rev.Timothy Farkas, and Rev. Dennis Covert officiating. Burial will follow services in Stanley Cemetery in Stanley, NM. Pallbearers will be Derek Gates, Tracy Gates, Devin Gates, Joshua McCuistion, Garret Blankenship, and Levi Tucker.
