Age 86, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 5, 2018 in Socorro, NM. He was born in Polvadera, NM on February 20, 1932, to Andres and Guadalupe Giron Savedra.

Ruben graduated from Socorro High School and began his career of serving his community. He was a board member of the New Mexico Association of Counties, the Bank of Socorro and Region 7. He owned and operated Ruben's Ice Service for many years and was the Probate Judge in Socorro for over 20 years. He worked at White Sands for over 25 years and was co-owner of the Cortez Three that provided security at White Sands. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Ofelia Simmons, Rosie Herrera, and Shella Torres; his brothers, Joe, Arthur and Victor Savedra; and son-in-law, William Griego. Ruben is survived by his wife of 66 years, Isabel Valencia Savedra; his son Charlie Savedra and wife, Charlene; his daughter, Cindy Griego; brother, Albert Savedra and wife, Dorothy; grandchildren, Charity (David) Gomez, Charee Savedra, Charlie Savedra Jr., Shannan (Michael Armijo) Griego, Celeste (Leopoldo Baca) Griego, William (Christie Baca) Griego Jr.; great grandchildren, David III, Nico and Cruz Gomez, Dezirae, Michael II, Jordan and Marcus Armijo, Josiah Esquivel, Leopoldo Baca Jr., Zabrina Baca Griego, Zariah, William Jr., Zachary and Zahneah Griego. Rosary to be recited on Thursday, May 10, 2018, at 8:30 am at San Miguel Catholic Church, 403 El Camino Real , Socorro with Mass of Resurrection to follow at 9:00 am. Celebrant Rev. John Anasiudu. Burial will take place at Polvadera Cemetery following service.
