RARICK- Ruby Jean Rarick of Albuquerque, New Mexico passed away on February 17, 2010. She was preceded in death by an older brother Francis, an older sister Ina and a younger sister Charlene. She is survived by her husband Stan, her son Rick and his wife Lynda of Sugar Land, Texas, son Charlie and his wife Dorothy of Albuquerque, five grandchildren: Nicole, Katie, Meredith, Nathan and Madeline and a great grandchild, Jackson. Ruby Jean was born in western Oklahoma on October 26, 1924 to Charles and Altha Miller. As a child she enjoyed playing on the family farm with her siblings and riding her horse Trixie. She attended school in Guymon, Oklahoma and graduated from Guymon High School. After graduation she attended the University of Oklahoma and Panhandle State A&M College. In 1946 she married Stan in a ceremony at the First Baptist Church in Guymon. Shortly thereafter they moved to Lawrence, Kansas where she worked for the Hallmark Card Co. In 1948 Ruby Jean and Stan moved to Albuquerque where she worked as a secretary for Sandia Laboratories until the birth of her first child. She was an active member of the First Congregational Church and served as the church secretary for 19 years. Ruby Jean's greatest joy came from being surrounded by family and friends. She especially loved organizing and attending her family's annual reunions, which for many years were held in Red River, New Mexico. She was a dedicated and accomplished bridge player and was a member of a number of bridge clubs. She and Stan traveled for many years and had the opportunity to visit more than 50 countries. Ruby Jean would always make time to listen to others and to provide words of comfort and encouragement. During her years she collected many titles and names: PTA President, Room Mother and bridge partner. To her friends she was Ruby, her husband called her Jeannie and her sons called her Mom. Perhaps her favorite title later in her life was "Grandma" because of the deep love she had for her five grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in the memory of Ruby Jean Rarick to the First Congregational United Church of Christ. Ruby's care has been entrusted to:
