Rubye Mae Scott

Scott, Rubye Mae 93, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 16, 2013. She was born in De Queen, AR on August 12, 1919 to Willie Pirl and Emma (Edwards) Fisher. Rubye was born in Arkansas, but lived all of her life in New Mexico. She met Carl Scott and they were married in Tatum, NM on Dec. 31, 1937. Rubye worked for several years with the Furr's Grocery Stores and Carl worked in construction. They were members of the Heights Baptist Church in Albuquerque, NM where they both taught a Sunday school class for 4 year olds. They had an opportunity to buy the NAPA store in Socorro with their son Lloyd in 1970 and Socorro has been their home ever since. Rubye was a wonderful seamstress and even made a lot of their children's clothes when they were young. Rubye was a member of the Socorro Baptist Church and belonged to the Baptist Women's Sewing Circle. She also volunteered at the local food bank. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Bill and Harold Fisher; and her sisters, Mrytle Warren and Hope Fisher. Rubye is survived by her devoted husband of 75 years, Carl; her loving sons, David L. Scott and wife, Deborah; and Lloyd C. Scott and wife, Annette; her brothers, Tom Fisher and wife, Pat; and Henry Fisher and wife, Dee; her sister, Jimmie Lois Southern and husband, Reese; her granddaughters, Deborah Scott; and Lori Romero and husband, Frank; her grandson, Bryan Scott; her great granddaughter, Erin Romero; and her great grandson, Randall Romero. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, June 20, 2013 at 11:00 am at the First Baptist Church, 203 Spring St., Socorro, NM. Interment will follow in the Socorro Cemetery. Pallbearers are Deborah Scott, Lori Romero, Bryan Scott, Erin Romero, Randall Romero, and Frank Romero.
