September 5, 1917 — July 5, 2014

Anderson, Ruth K. Ruth Anderson passed away July 5, 2014. She was born Ruth Elizabeth Knust September 5, 1917 in Gleichen, Alberta Canada to Henry Lewis Knust and Luella Maude Ogden Knust. At the approximate age of 11 her family moved to Spearfish, SD, USA. Ruth married James Franklin Anderson in 1934 and together they had one son, Leslie Wayne Anderson born in April, 1937. Most of her life was spent in the beautiful Black Hills that she so loved. She opened a caf/gas station in Buffalo Gap in 1947 called Texico Corner. That soon became the go-to-place for the teenagers to get the best-ever chocolate malts, hamburgers and a caring listener. She closed the caf in 1965 after the new highway bypassed Buffalo Gap. She then worked in Hot Springs VA hospital until her retirement. Ruth is preceded in death by, her husband, Jim, in 1965; son, Wayne, in 2007; her parents; six sisters, and one brother. She is survived by many Anderson and Knust nieces and nephews both in USA and Canada. Following the death of her son, she spent the remaining years in NM with a niece who she always treated as a daughter. Those that knew Ruth will say she was a remarkable woman that worked very hard to make a home for her family and looked out for her friends. No local services.
