Ruth Eleanor Bland, 81, beloved daughter, devoted mother, and grandmother, left this life on February 2, 2016. A remembrance service will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2016, at 1:00 pm at the Daniels Family Chapel on Sara Rd in Rio Rancho. Eleanor is survived by her son and his family: Curt and Julie Bland, their sons: Zachary, Nathan, and Nicholas. She is also survived by her daughter and her family: Paula and Timothy Renton, their sons: Tyler and Lucas. Eleanor was originally from Dayton, Ohio. She was the only daughter of Freeman R. Smith and Ruth Inez Smalley. She moved to New Mexico with her husband Raymond Bland in 1960. She worked for N.C. Ribble Co. for many years as an administrative assistant and later worked for Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Mexico. She retired in 1995. She was an incredible mother, grandmother, and friend. She touched many people’s lives with her laughter and hugs. In her last years, she lived at Beehive West and was lovingly cared for by their wonderful staff.
