Sally (Padilla) Stiers

Stiers, Sally (Padilla) 90, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at her home. She was born in San Antonio, NM on April 1, 1923 to Marcelino and Carmelita (Lucero)Padilla. Sally or "Celia" lived a very full life. She lived in San Antonio for all of her 90 years. She was on a first name basis with all the saints and could even turn a "Remolino" to where it would do no damage. Sally loved birds and drawing but she found the most peace when she was praying for everyone. Her final wish, was that her family and friends be kind to each other always. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Charlie Thomas Stiers. Sally is survived by her children, Joann Stiers Baxter of San Antonio,NM; and Charlie Stiers and his wife, Amy of Los Lunas, NM; her grandchildren, Tom Gunther of Alsip, IL; Joann Gunther of OrlandPark, IL; Karolyn Baxter and husband, Ron Wetzel of Sunbury, PA; Page Pomo and husband, Anthony of Albuquerque, NM; and the very sunshine of her last years, Sean Stiers of Los Lunas. Sally also adored her great granddaughter, Mikayla Trujillo Baxter of Albuquerque. She will be greatly missed by her brother, Leandro Padilla and his wife Angela of Brookyn, NY; her sister, Delfina Rayner of Baltimore, MD; her two sisters in law, Maria Padilla of Socorro; and Emilia Mendez of Pueblo, CO; and many nieces and nephews, who she truly loved including the morning Glories. A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated on Friday, June 28, 2013 at 9:00 am at San Miguel Catholic Church, 403 El Camino Real, Socorro with Monsignor Gomez as Celebrant. Interment will take place in the San Antonio Cemetery following the service. Pallbearers are Jeremy Tapia, Michael Gonzales, Jose Padilla, Leno Padilla, Frank Sanchez, and Paul Gonzales.
