Salvatore J. Tortorici, Sr.

Tortorici, Salvatore J. "Sal" Sr.Age 88, a longtime resident of Rio Rancho, NM passed away on Monday, October 22, 2012. He was born on July 13, 1924 to Andrew and Frances (Affrunti) Tortorici of Brooklyn, NY. Upon graduation from high school, Mr. Tortorici joined the US Navy. He met Rose Ann Wasp, who would later become his wife, while bowling in 1960. They married on September 11, 1965 at St. Mary&s Catholic Church in the Bronx, NY. Mr. and Mrs. Tortorici moved to Rio Rancho, NM in February of 1972. He was owner and partner of Sal Tortorici Plumbing and Heating. He belonged to the American Legion, but his true love was being a founding father and four-time president of the Italian American Association. He will be remembered as a hardworking and family man. He enjoyed playing "Free Cell" on his computer, completing word search puzzles in books and the Game Show Network. Many, many wonderful memories bring comfort to his large number of family members and friends who mourn his passing.Mr. Tortorici was preceded in death by his parents and many siblings. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 47 years, Rose Ann Tortorici of Rio Rancho, NM; children, Frances Beattie of Islip, NY, Andrew Tortorici and his wife, Kris, of Rio Rancho, NM, Sal Tortorici, Jr. and his wife, Flo, of Rio Rancho, NM, Kenny Tortorici and his wife, Tonya, of Keller, TX, Theresa Sabatini of Rio Rancho, NM, and Robert Tortorici and his wife, Barbara, of Fredericksburg, VA; 18 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Frances Tringali of Brooklyn, NY; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.The first Visitation and Viewing will be held from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 25, 2012 at Daniels Family Funeral Services - Sara Chapel, 4310 Sara Road SE, Rio Rancho. The second Visitation and Viewing will be held from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with the Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 26, 2012, also at Daniels Family Funeral Services - Sara Chapel, 4310 Sara Road SE, Rio Rancho, NM. The Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 27, 2012 at Church of the Incarnation, 2309 Monterey Road NE, Rio Rancho, NM with Father Rick Zerwas and longtime friend, Deacon George Meyerson presiding. Entombment with military honors will follow at Vista Verde Memorial Park, Rio Rancho, NM.Pallbearers will be Sal Tortorici, III., Anthony Tortorici, Andrew Tortorici, Sal Tortorici, IV, Salvatore Jerry Tortorici, V., and Joseph Tortorici.
