MARTINEZ - Sam Martinez, age 59, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, was called to his heavenly home by the Lord, Wednesday, December 29, 2010. He was born in Chimayo, NM and was a resident of Bernalillo, NM. Sam was a “Jack of all Trades,” and master of all. He was a cook at the Bernalillo KOA Kafe, where he made the best burritos ever, and became well known as, “The Burrito Man.” Sam enjoyed oil painting and being involved in the community, which led him to coaching Little League Baseball and Basketball. Sam is survived by his loving wife, Priscilla Martinez; his children, Samuel “Jonathan” Martinez, Melvina Mendoza and husband Eddy, Catherine Haynam and husband Brian, Gabriel Martinez, Michelle Rendon and husband Presciliano; nine grandchildren, Michael Martinez, Samantha Flores, Timothy, Sarah and Savannah Mendoza, Randi Jo and Johnny Ray Martinez, Mario and Tabitha Rendon; and many other relatives and friends. Sam will be greatly missed by all. Visitations will be Sunday, January 2, 2011 from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Bernalillo Middle School Gymnasium, 485 Calle Don Tomas. Funeral Services will be conducted Monday at 12:00 p.m. at the Light House Assembly of God Church, in Chimayo, NM, with Pastor Julian Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at the Chimayo Assembly of God Cemetery. Casket Bearers will be Jason Martinez, Tommy Lucero, James Espinoza, Eddie Martinez, Bobby DeVargas, and Andy DeVargas.
