Samuel (Sam) Alexander Gallegos, Jr., died unexpectedly on March 17th, 2025, due to an unknown heart disease. He was only 39 years young. The family is deeply saddened and shocked by his sudden death. Sam was born on June 19, 1985, to Samuel A. Gallegos Sr. & Lucille T. Gutierrez.
Sam grew up in Albuquerque, NM in the South Valley. He was a graduate from Rio Grande High School, class of 2003 and enjoyed playing football, which he excelled. After graduating, Sam met his soon-to-be wife Kimberly Barrera, and they married on February 12, 2005. They were then blessed with their four children, Zachary Alexander "18", Mikaela Alexandra “14”, Jonah Samuel “10” and Kayson Kristopher “7”. His son Zachary is expecting a baby girl in August. Sam was so happy to share this news and was eager to become a grandfather.
Early on, Sam was employed with cellular phone companies, which brought great richness to his life. He was recognized for his hard work while setting milestones that rewarded him with luxury trips and entertainment. He then moved on and was employed by Xfinity Corporation and had great success within this tenure. Sam was a strong, independent, and proud father. He lived for his children. His perseverance was admirable. It was very evident that his intention in life was to provide boundless love, fun and security for his family.
As an only child, Sam is survived by his former wife Kimberly Gallegos, and their 4 children, he was also blessed with his loving partner Jamie Otero and her children, Jose Manuel "16", Omar Jaime "15", Ava Rae “11” and Calliope Vanessa Renee “8”, all from Albuquerque, NM. His mother and stepfather Joe and Lucille Gutierrez, living in Phoenix, AZ, His father and stepmother Samuel A. Gallegos Sr. and Katrina, living in Las Vegas, NV, His brothers Ben (25) and Ray (24), His stepsisters, Devina (37) and Desiree (34), His In-Laws Lucy and Mario Barrera, His Tata Manual S. Sandoval, His brother-in-law Jonathan Barrera all living in Albuquerque, NM, and many, many aunties, uncles and cousins.
Sam is preceded in death by his Nana Tina, Florentina C. Sandoval in 2014, Grandmother, Mabel L. Gallegos 2024, Grandfather, Louie P. Gallegos 1994, sister-in-law, Nichole Lehmeier, 2021, auntie, Julie A. Lopez, 2024, and his uncle, Chris Garcia, 2018.
Those who know Sam will remember him for his infectious smile and overwhelming laughter (like Eddy Murphy in Beverly Hills Cops, one of his favorite movies). He truly was the life of the party and left a lasting impact on all who crossed his path. He may have left this world, but I’m pretty sure Heaven just got a lot funnier – and possibly a bit more chaotic.
He will be missed dearly and never forgotten.
Cheers,
