Sandra Varela

Sandra Varela, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, November 10, 2024. Sandra is survived by her husband of 41 years, Bill Varela, her mother, Cecilia Gurule, her children Sylvia (David) Marquez, Jayson (Emily) Varela and Gabe Varela. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Gabby Marquez, Donovan Marquez, Gestic Marquez, Neviah Varela-Marquez, Stevie Varela-Marquez, Millie Varela and great-grandson Drew Marquez. She is survived by her siblings, Larry (Lorraine) Gurule, Steve Gurule, Becky (Patrick) LeFaive, and Sheila Gurule (Gene Johnson). She is also survived by her nieces and nephew, Angela Gurule, Sarah (Mark) Rogowski, Racquel Gurule, and Desi Gurule; her sister-in-law Anita Varela, Nieces, Teena Campos, Chanel Nunez, Jazelle Campos and Tammi Campos. She also leaves behind her precious dog, Abby, and many cherished Aunts, Uncles, great nieces and nephews, cousins and close friends. Sandra was preceded in death by her father, Reyes Gurule, her sister Deena Gurule, her niece Felicia Gurule and her grandson Omaree Varela. Sandra was known for her generous and compassionate heart and was selfless. She was the “rock” for her family and friends and was an extraordinary cook and we loved her deeply. Her absence has left a hole in the hearts of the people who knew and loved her. Rest in Peace our beautiful Sandra.
