Santiago Ramon Trujillo

August 16, 1955 — October 4, 2019

Santiago (Jimmy) Ramon Trujillo was called to Heaven on October 4, 2019, after a brief but valiant battle with renal cancer.

Jimmy was born on August 16, 1955 in Taos, New Mexico to Jose G. Trujillo and Matilda G. Trujillo and grew up in Paradise Hills, New Mexico.  Jimmy graduated from West Mesa High School in 1974 and joined the Army where he served in Korea. He also, very proudly, served in the Navy and Marines and was a big supporter of the military and fellow veterans.  Jimmy was currently employed at Lowe’s since 2014, where he was known for his outrageous and fun socks and had a very loyal, regular customer group. He loved gardening, and experimented growing roses, grapes, watermelon and tomatoes, among other things, at his mother's house. Jimmy also loved all the family pets, often giving them fun nicknames like Paxton, Garcia and Changa. Anyone who knew Jimmy knew his love of sports, especially the Lakers and Patriots. He had an extensive hat collection, all either Lakers, Patriot or military hats. Jimmy loved candy and sweets and would make a daily trip (sometimes several times a day!) to the Dollar Tree by the family home to stock up on his candy and Gatorade.  Jimmy was always a very athletic person, often running countless marathons, biking from one end of the city to the other just for fun, running the bleachers at UNM, running the La Luz Trail and entering body building competitions. He always had a smile on his face and was the life of the party at family get together's, with his corny jokes and witty comments.

Jimmy was welcomed into Heaven by his beloved mother, father and brother, Matilda, Joe Willie and Willie Trujillo Jr. and several beloved family pets, waiting to go for a run.

Jimmy will be forever missed and loved by his son Santiago Jr. (J.J.), daughter-in-law Emma Jane and granddaughter Cadence, of London; brothers Armando Trujillo, David Trujillo and wife, Tina; sisters Stella Martinez, Bernadette Mahedy and her husband Hughie, and Kristina Trujillo; nieces and nephews, Michelle Hernandez, husband Jon and their daughters Mia and Lena, Santos Trujillo, wife Valerie and their sons Seth and Wyatt, Rebecca and David Trujillo Jr., Amanda and Alyssa Robinson. Our family pets, Daisy, Olive, Paca, Poopoo and Cali will also miss Jimmy and all the treats and love he always had for them.

The Trujillo family would like to thank all the nurses and staff at Skies/Genesis Healthcare and Compassus Hospice who took such good care of Jimmy as well as all the prayers and well wishes from all his family, friends and coworkers. We are very comforted by the fact that Jimmy died peacefully and with a smile on his face.

Funeral Services will be on Thursday, October 24th at Saint Jude Catholic Church, 5712 Paradise Blvd NW. Albuquerque, NM 87114. A Rosary will be at 10:30 am with the Funeral Mass to follow at 11:00 am. A reception will take place after Mass in the Parish Hall.

Burial will be in the Spring of 2020 (Jimmy’s favorite time of year) in Santa Fe at the National Cemetery with full military honors.
