VOGEL-Sara Louise Drypolcher Vogel Born in 1923 passed April 18, 2009. Sara lived a full and busy life. She graduated from Santa Fe High in 1941. She went on to complete a degree at UNM in English Literature in 1947. Sally, as her friends called her, had six children and a career. She worked for the Department of Public Welfare for many years before returning to UNM to get a chemistry degree so she could embark on her new career as a special chemist at the UNM Hospital Lab. She worked there for 25 years. After her retirement she couldn't sit still and worked for 10 more years as an office assistant. Sally was a die hard Cowboys, Lobo, and Yankees fan. While at UNM she brought home honors for the women's swim team. Sally was an avid reader all her life and would read up to 10 books a week while doing the New York Times Crossword puzzles in between chapters. She was regular patron of the Cherry Hills Library. Sally enjoyed driving and owned several sports cars over the years which she gave names to like "Charlie Car" her Triumph Spitfire. She had a baby blue Malibu SS convertible and a fire engine red Rally Sport Camaro. Sally was preceded in death by her parents Louis and Margaret Drypolcher, her brothers Louis and Harry and her sister Shirley. She also lost two of her sons Eric and David. She is survived by her other children Gretchen Patterson, Lise Gorgone (David), Blake French and Byrnes Vogel (Ana). Sally also enjoyed the company of her grandchildren and great grand children.
