Shannon J. Shaw

March 25, 1961 — August 31, 2009

SHAW_Shannon J. Shaw passed to eternal rest on Monday, August 31, 2009 at his home in Corrales, surrounded by his family. Shannon was born March 25, 1961 in Garden Grove, California to Evy (Diamond) and the late Morton Shaw. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, David B. and Fanette Stern, and Max and Millie Shaw. Married to Christine Marie Ozoskey in Taos in 1987, Shannon and Christine are the proud parents of Jacob, age 18, and Marlena 16. Jake is beginning his first year of college at Central New Mexico University; and Marlena is an honor student at Cibola High School where she plays Volleyball and is active in student government. Jacob earned the award of Eagle Scout and one of his father's happiest moments was Jake's Court of Honor in May, the night before his graduation from Cibola High School where he played varsity soccer. An AYSO certified soccer coach and referee, Shannon devoted his life to his children in sports activities, scouting, and school work. He was a devoted husband who loved to come home for lunch and dinner every day from his first job with the BLM in Carlsbad. The family home is a place of peace, joy and nurturing. Shannon got the oil field in his blood working as a mudlogger. He attended Texas Tech and graduated from New Mexico Tech with a B.S. in Petroleum Engineering, after graduating from Carlsbad High School in 1979. Shannon's first professional job was with the BLM in Carlsbad where mentored by many fine people including Cecilia (Baby) Wigley, Linda Rundell, Tony Harrell, Dave Perini (his high school football coach), and Joe Leyva. He transferred to the Mineral Management Service in Camarillo, California in 1996 and protected the Federal interest in offshore platform oil and gas production from Long Beach to Santa Barbara. In 2007, Shannon rejoined his first love, the BLM, in Santa Fe as Supervising Petroleum Engineer with duties in New Mexico, Texas, Kansas, and Oklahoma. He was thankful to be able to return to his beloved New Mexico and to work with his team of Linda Rundell and Tony Harrell. All of Shannon's teammates at the BLM and MMS are Honorary Pallbearers. Shannon leaves his beautiful wife, Christine, and children, Jacob and Marlena of Corrales; his mother and step-father, Evy and Jeff Diamond of Carlsbad; step-mother Dolly Shaw of Balboa, CA; and brother, Max Robert Shaw of Orange, CA. The family requests in lieu of flowers, a donation to a favorite charity in Shannon's memory, or to the Shannon J. Shaw Memorial Cancer Fund to fight Melanoma at Carlsbad Foundation, 116 South Canyon Street, Carlsbad, NM 88220. Arrangements are entrusted to Daniels Family Funeral Services 4310 Sara Road SE Rio Rancho, NM 87124 (505) 892-9920
