Sharon Kay Webb

Beloved relative of many, Sharon Kay (Toledo) Webb, began her journey to the spirit world on June 26, 2020. She was recovering from surgery at Western Skies Rehabilitation Center in Albuquerque. Born to Bill and Louise Toledo in Lawrence, Kansas, in 1955, she spent the majority of her life at Laguna Pueblo.  She was from the Roadrunner Clan on her mother’s side and born for the Tá neezahnii (Tangled) clan on her father’s side. She resided in Grants, NM, with her husband of 18 years, Donn Webb.  After she graduated from Laguna-Acoma High School in 1973, she attended New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, NM. Her life took other turns before she completed her B.A. of Human and Community Services in 2006, at the NMSU Grants Branch. Most of her employment focused on service to others, mainly in early childhood and human services. Known as “Miss Sharon” to many, she loved working with little children. One of her memorable teaching opportunities was a trip to Japan with her father, a Navajo Code Talker, in 1993, where she made numerous presentations to Japanese school children on her Navajo and Pueblo cultures. She was gifted with two sons, Derrick Toledo and Michael Toledo and 4 grandchildren, who were the focus of her later years: Alexis Mae Toledo, daughter of son Derrick, and Xavier Michael Toledo, Jadon Damon Toledo, and Soraya Ranae Toledo, children of son Michael Toledo. Her “grandma love” will be missed.  She was predeceased by both her parents, her brother William “Billy” Toledo, her maternal grandparents Lucia and Santiago Jose, and her paternal grandparents Mary and Henry Toledo of Torreon, NM. She is survived by her uncle Irvin Jose and cousins Loren Jose (Idaho) and Rinee Jose Drayton (Utah), their children and grandchildren, and many aunts, cousins, clan relatives and friends.

Sharon’s interests included her father Bill Toledo’s travels to educate others on the Navajo Code Talkers and traveling with her husband Don Webb around the country for sports events and his Rt. 66 music hobby. Cremation will occur at her request. A memorial service will be planned later, in view of the current Covid-19 restrictions.
