Walker, Shelby D
Shelby Walker was born on February 11, 1920 In Oak Ridge, Louisiana to Jake and Rosie Walker. He was baptized at a young age and grew up in the Deep South. At 21 years of age he entered into the US Army bootcamp and seven days later WWII broke out. Shelby became a United State Soldier. After serving in the Army he then reenlisted in the Air Force and traveled overseas and lived in 19 different countries. Experiencing cultures, language, life and love. Kirtland Air Force Base is where Shelby later was stationed at and retired from the US Air Force. He then worked as a researcher at ITRI Lovelace. In the Air Force Mr. Walker was stationed at Kirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque, NM where he retired from. He met and married Ivy Lene Holmes, his best friend. They has a blended family not "The Brady Bunch" but "The Walker-Holmes Bunch." Shelby was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and wonderful friend to have. One of the most polite men you could come to know, always saying thank you and I love you. We loved him dearly. He is preceded in death by his father grandfather George and grandmother Martha Thaxton, his father Jake, his mother Rosie Lewis, his uncle George Jr. and his son Robert Walker and best friend James Taylor Thomas. Shelby is survived by his loving wife Ivy Lene Walker, son Shelby Jr.(Veronica), son Rshean Walker, dauther-in-law Vera Walker, son Curtis Holmes, daughter Renee, Son Rodney Homles, Brother and sister-in-law James and Virginga Walls, brother and sister-in-law Le Roi and Bonnie Goodman, Brother and sister-in-law James and Marion McCoy, sister-in-law Stella Thompson, cousin Anna (Baby Sis)Thaxton and his daughter Jennie Olguin as well as 19 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren, and numerous family and friends. Shelby has kicked his last kick, sprouted wings and is in Glory!
