Sheldon Brent Palmer

Sheldon Brent Palmer passed away on Friday, June 3, 2011 in the family home of congenetal heart failure. He was 52 years old. Sheldon is survived by his father, Perry J. Palmer of La Boca, New Mexico and his mother, Elaine Self Gold of Ilwaco, WA; two brothers, Denton Jay Palmer of Grand Junction. He was born in January 29, 1959 in Blanco, NM to Daniel Munoz and Adelina (Martinez) Munoz. Felix attended elementary school in Blanco, NM and as a teenager he worked on the family farm together with his brothers. At an early age he went to work in the oil patch for San Juan Drilling Company. He then worked for Cactus Drilling Corporation for over twenty-five years where he retired as a tool pusher. During this time he went into the cattle business spending his free time cowboying. Felix was known for his generosity to his family and friends. He was also known for his dry sense of humor as witnessed by his choice of all female pallbearers. At this time the family would like to express their appreciation for the excellent care he received from the medical staff at the step down and cardiology units of the San Juan Regional Medical Center. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Heart Association. Felix is survived by his brothers, Abenecio Munoz and wife, Romela of Allison, CO, Joe M. Munoz and wife, Sadie of Fallon, Nevada; and sister, Corina Ferguson and husband, Gary of Reno, Nevada, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Nieves (Mary) Martinez; sister-in-law, Helen Munoz and brother-in-law, Joe Martinez. Visitation for Felix will be from 4:00 " 5:15 pm on Friday, April 1, with the Rosary to be recited at 5:15 pm at St. Rosa of Lima Catholic Church in Blanco. The Mass of the Christian Burial will be Saturday, April 2 at 10:00 am at St. Rosa of Lima Catholic Church with Father Bob Mathieu officiating. Burial will be at the West End Cemetery in Ignacio, Colorado. A Reception will follow the burial. Pallbearers are: Elaine Sturgell, Lillie Munoz, Veronica Munoz, Lynda Glass, Bernadette Conklin and Diana Romero. Honorary pallbearers are: Randy Munoz, Alfonso Velasquez, Dan Ferguson, Dale Montoya, Mike Munoz, Tommy Pacheco, Chris Velasquez, Leo Pacheco, Onasimo Martinez and Ben Nielsen.
