Sherwell S Buoy

BOUY-Sherwell S. Buoy, 78, of Farmington, N.M., passed away at his home on Wednesday, March 11, 2009. He was born Feb. 7, 1931, in Bartlesville, Okla., to Willis and Devona (Mock) Buoy. He graduated from Ocheleta High School in 1948. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1953. That same year, he met and married Shirley Rogers. They had four children, Mike, Pat, Mark and Sharla. Sherl and his family moved from Bartlesville to Farmington in 1958. Sherl, an electrician by trade, was a member of IBEW Local 611 for more than 50 years. He started working for Arizona Public Service in 1968 and retired in 1994. Sherl was a member of the Masonic Lodge. Sherl and sons founded Buoy Electric Company in 1994 and worked together until 2004. Sherl was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Shirley Buoy; younger brother, Travis Buoy; and one son, Mark Buoy. He is survived by his older brother, Willis Buoy of Collinsville, Okla.; sons, Mike (Barbara) Buoy of Kirtland, Pat (Cynthia) Buoy of Surprise, Ariz.; and one daughter, Sharla (Robert) Austin of Farmington. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, Trisha, Crystal, James, Tracie, Christina, Mark, Mitchell, Thomas, Zach, Ashley and Austin; and 11 great-grandchildren.
