Shyla B. Hawkins

SHYLA B. HAWKINS, 17, of Farmington passed away Wednesday, July 16, 2008 at her home. Shyla was born July 8, 1991 in Farmington the daughter of Leldon (Shorty) Hawkins and Doris (Maestas) Hawkins. Shyla would have graduated from Farmington High School in 2009. She loved music and especially singing in the choir at FHS. Shyla made many friends in the choir and they will truly miss her. Shyla was employed at Golden Corral and met and made many friends while she worked there. She also enjoyed camping, photography, text messaging and especially shopping at the mall and spending time with her friends. Shyla's smile and friendship will be greatly missed.Shyla is survived by her parents, Leldon (Shorty) Hawkins and Doris Hawkins of Farmington; brother, Shawn Hawkins also of Farmington; grandmothers Freta Hawkins of Los Lunas, NM and Rose Maestas of Gallina; aunts and uncles Abe & Belinda Tapia of Espanola, Rudy Maestas of Gallina, Marshall Maestas, Pete Maestas and Norma of Gallina, Joann and Delano Valdez of Acalde, NM; David Hawkins and wife Karen and Billy Hawkins and wife Peggy all of Los Lunas, NM; and many dear friends. Shyla was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Charles A. Hawkins in 2006 and Richard Maestas in 1973. Pallbearers are Shawn Hawkins, Abe Tapia, Pete Maestas, Michael Tapia, David Hawkins, Ronald McWilliams.Honorary pallbearers are Kalei Calkins, Hannah Day, Ray Bronechi, Kathleen Cordova, Michael Tapia, Brian Maestas, Jenna Street, Melissa Leyba, Sheena Hawkins, Chris Hawkins, Jessie Hawkins, Tracey Hawkins and adopted grandfather Frank Smith.
