Sonyonia Ann Hathaway

August 30, 1934 — July 3, 2024

Sonyonia Ann Hathaway, affectionately known as Ann or "Snooks", gracefully completed her earthly journey on July 3, 2024, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She was born on August 30, 1934, in Lenapah, Oklahoma, to her late parents, Ed and Marie Sanders.

Ann's life was a tapestry woven with love, kindness, and an unwavering spirit. She was a devoted wife to her beloved husband of 34 years, W.L. (Bill) Hathaway, who preceded her in passing. Alongside Bill, she joins her dear sister and brother-in-law, Imogene, and Glenn Hughes.

Left to cherish her memory are Ann's loving daughters: Linda Grady and late husband, Bud Grady, of Bernalillo, NM; and Sonyonia (Jim) Caraway of Corrales, NM. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Jim Spaccamonti Sr. of Pueblo, CO; as well as her cousin, Vernon (Anna May) Cranor of Cortez, CO.

Ann's legacy extends through generations with numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and even great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews who will carry forward her warmth and wisdom. Her spirit lives on through her grandchildren: Heather Grady (Eduardo) Provencio; Kristen Caraway (Bill) McGovern; Kyle (Dayna) Caraway; and Shaun (Ariana) Grady. Additionally, she adored her great-grandchildren: Bryson Caraway, Colton Caraway, and Camden Caraway.

Beyond her immediate family circle, Ann touched the lives of many with her boundless love. Her church family held a special place in her heart as did the close-knit community on her street that she affectionately referred to as her "compound family."

Ann touched the lives of many with her compassionate heart and genuine care for others. Her memory will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to have known her. May she rest in eternal peace knowing that she was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of sharing in her life's journey.

"Perhaps they are not stars but rather openings in heaven where the love of our lost ones pours through and shines down upon us to let us know they are happy." - Eskimo Proverb
