Funeral services for Christina Joe, 32, of Standing Rock, New Mexico will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, July 29, 2011. President James Howell will be officiating the service. Services will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Stake Center, in Gallup, NM. Burial will be at Mission Cemetery, Rehoboth, NM. Christina was born on May 17, 1979 at Gallup, NM. She passed away on Saturday, July 23, 2011 at Gallup, NM. Her clan is Kinyaani (Towering House), born for Hanaani��?� (One Who Walks Around). Christina graduated from Valley High School, Sanders, AZ and from University of New Mexico-Gallup with an Associate of Arts Degree in Nursing. She was a full-time student at the University of New Mexico-Gallup campus with plans to pursue a bachelors degree in Nursing. She was the President of the National Nursing Students Association from 2010 till the time of her passing and a member of the UNM-G Veterans Student Association and UNM-G Student Senate. Christina was also in the Army National Guard, 1116th Transportation Co., Gallup Division, as Staff Sergeant and served in Operation Iraqi Freedom in Tallil, Iraq, from 2005-2006. She also served as the Primary President and Relief Society teacher in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She is survived by her husband, Jason Joe, 3 daughters: Chenoa Stevens, Ashleigh Jesse Joe, and Cadence Cori Joe all of Standing Rock, NM; her parents Mark and Nancy Stevens; brothers Marcus and Lucas Stevens, and sister Cresentia Stevens, all of TseYaToh, NM. Chris was a wonderful mother and wife, and she will be greatly missed. Pall Bearers will be the 1116th Transportation Unit, United States Army National Guard from Gallup, New Mexico. An escort will be provided by the Patriot Riders of Santa Fe, New Mexico and Navajo-Hopi Freedom Riders of Gallup, NM.
