Stephen "Steve" E. Skinner

Stephen "Steve" E. Skinner, age 60, beloved companion, brother, and nephew, passed away peacefully at his home, Monday, August 4, 2014. He was born in Manhattan, KS and was a resident of Alameda, NM. Steve was raised in Winnetka, IL and lived there until he graduated from New Trier High School. He then attended the University of New Mexico and remained in Albuquerque until his death. After college, Steve purchased the Alameda Greenhouse and successfully ran the business for almost 40 years. Alameda Greenhouse was his passion in life and through the business he became well known in the community. He considered his employees family and the customers his friends. Throughout Steve's life he unselfishly gave to others and his generosity and kindness will not be forgotten. He touched many hearts and we will all miss him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Anne and Joe Skinner; and his sister, Joanne Morgan. Steve is survived by his loving companion and best friend, Kimberly Reaume; his brother, Jim Skinner of Lake Forest, IL; and his Uncle Tom Skinner of Clay Center, KS; his adopted mother, Louise Bouton; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 12, 2014 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Daniels Family Funeral Services - Alameda Mortuary, 9420 Fourth Street NW, where Funeral Services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Sandia Memory Gardens. Casket Bearers will be Jim Skinner, Tom Skinner, Mike Skinner, Memo Ortiz, Willie Ortiz, and Henry Borado. In lieu of flowers Memorial contributions may be made in Steve's honor to the American Lung Association.
