Steve N. Baker passed from this earthly life on February 2, 2009 at the age of 62. He was born November 30, 1946 in Ponca City, OK to James and Naomi Baker. Steve was proud to have been in the US Army serving two tours of duty in Vietnam. Steve's post-Vietnam journey involved several bouts with homelessness up until his death. To his family and friends he was "A True American". If anything can come of Steve's death, it will be recognizing our homeless veterans. He is survived by his nieces Pamela Stalcup of Bloomfield and Mary Ann Gipson of Farmington; and nephew, Phillip Mitchell of Albuquerque. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of Steve's life and recognition of the "Plight of Homeless Veterans" will take place 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 25, 2009 (Memorial Day) at Memory Gardens of Farmington. Special speaker will be New Mexico State Senator, the Honorable Senator William Sharer. Full Military Honors will conclude the service. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of:
