Susan Kay Welker

Susan Kay Welker (73), a longtime resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico, passed away on Sunday, March 19, 2023, in the arms of her beloved husband, Kenneth (Kenny) Larry Welker.

Born of April 17, 1949, Susan was a beautiful girl who met the love of her life at 16.  By 17, Susan married Kenny in September of 1966 and they moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1971 with 3 children already in tow.  Susan’s love for her children, grand-children, and great-grandchildren and family was indescribable as she adored and cherished each one of them.

She is survived by her husband, Kenny; children, Wendy Rue and husband Sander, Kenly Smith and husband Dallas, Jim Welker and wife Valerie, Angel McGovern and husband KC; grandchildren, Dallas Smith and wife Maria, Justin Smith, Sander Rue, Jr., Jarryd Rue and wife Samantha, Braden Rue, Madisyn Rue, Caitlin McGovern, Amy McGovern, and Connor McGovern; great-grandchildren, Henry, Eleanor, and Owen Rue; her brother, Tony Brooks and wife Kathy; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  Susie was preceded in death by her parents Raymond, Opal, and Lena Grace Brooks, and half-sister Julie. 

A graveside service will take place Friday, March 24, 2023, at 1:30pm at Sandia Memorial Gardens (9500 San Pedro Drive NE, Albuquerque, New Mexico, 87120).  Pallbearers are Dallas Smith, Justin Smith, Sander Rue, Jr., Jarryd Rue, Braden Rue, and KC McGovern.
