Theodore Stern,
Retired USAF Lt. Col, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2016. He was born in Bronx, NY on January 2, 1923 to Jacob and Emma Stern. In 1941 he began his college career at St. John’s University. As a Sophomore, he was called to active duty and reported to Deming, NM for basic training in the Army/Air Force. In 1948 he began bombardier training and was then assigned to Topeka, Kansas in the 55th Reconnaissance Group. He served in the Korean War, flew many missions for SAC and in 1967 he transferred to Offutt AFB. He retired after 30 years as a Lt. Col in 1972 and moved to Corrales, NM. From 1973 to 1985 he worked in the Business Dept. at St. Joseph’s Hospital and then volunteered for many years in medical records. “Ted” enjoyed traveling to Pagosa Springs with his family, to St. Maarten and also liked going on cruises. Theodore is survived by his loving wife Audrey, children Scott Stern (Karen), Donna Wolf, Jeff Stern (Patrice), Stacey Litchfield (Charlie), Derry Stern (Rita); six grandchildren, six great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, and two neices. His family will observe a private memorial service with military honors. The ceremony will be officiated by Pastor Jim Stern, eulogy by Jeff Stern and taps played by David Stern.
