Therese Nava Martinez, 76, died unexpectedly but peacefully at home with her husband Ray by her side on February 10, 2022 from natural causes.
Therese attended Loretto Academy in Santa Fe and college at New Mexico Highlands in Las Vegas. She loved spending time with her family and was extremely proud of her children and grandchildren both near and far. She enjoyed reading, line dancing, laughing and having lunch with her friends and stayed in contact with those dear friends during the pandemic. She will be remembered for her faith, love of life, and her weird and wacky sense of humor. We will always remember that beautiful smile.
Therese was preceded in death by her father, Eleuterio Nava Jr. and aunt Vivian Griego. She leaves behind her mother, Clorinda Nava, husband Ray Martinez, daughter Arlene (Rodolfo) Baca, son Vince (Abigail) Martinez, brother Ralph (Winonna) Nava, brother Edward (Jeanette) Nava, grandchildren Angelica Baca (Pete Cameron), Steph Baca (Craig Vinciguerra), Matthew (Meredith) Martinez, Emily Martinez and Luke Martinez and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
Pallbearers are Ken Nava, Michael Austin, Erik Trujillo, Mark Nava, Lorenzo Nava and Craig Vinciguerra. Honorary pallbearers: Matthew Martinez, Luke Martinez, Leonard Nava, Marcus Romero, Michael Romero and Pete Cameron.
Services will be held on March 4, 2022 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Rio Rancho. Rosary will be at 10:00 and Mass at 10:30. Burial will be at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe with a date still to be determined.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in her name to one of her favorite charities of St. Felix Pantry in Rio Rancho, The Memory Care Alliance in Santa Fe (supporting caregivers of people living with memory care issues) or the NM chapter of the DAV (Disabled Veterans of America).
