Occupationally he worked as a local and long distance truck driver for, Munoz Towing Service, Big A Auto Parts and others. Thomas enjoyed working at Walmart in the Sporting Goods Department and truly liked the people he met while working at First Security Bank as a security guard. In July of 2013 while near death (due to COPD) Thomas began his journey for a chance at a new life by applying for a double lung transplant at St. Joseph Hospital Heart and Lung Institute in Phoenix, AZ. He worked hard to endure and pass the many tests required to qualify to be put on the approved for transplant list. Thankfully he was blessed by not only qualifying to be on the list but he actually receiving that transplant on September 8th, 2013. Since the transplant Thomas has lived in Phoenix, Az. to be near his transplant team and transplant hospital. While recovering from the transplant he met the love of his life Patricia Crafts and her son Lionel Crafts. During their time together Patricia and Thomas shared many happy experiences that included attending weekly worship services at North Hills Church, camping trips, picnics in the park, going on Sunday afternoon drives, playing cards and games. They also enjoyed painting, updating and redecorating Patricia’s home. Thomas enjoyed getting to know Lionel. He insisted on teaching Lionel how to drive and helped him select and purchase his first car. Thomas was happy to be there with Patricia to see Lionel’s graduation from Arizona State University. The last two years of Thomas’s life were absolutely the best two years of his life and for that we are all very thankful. A Memorial Service will be conducted by the Reverend Michael Weber at Mountain Springs Fellowship Baptist Church located at 10,110 Constitution NE (2 blocks west of Eubank on Constitution) in Albuquerque, NM 87112 on Saturday September 26th, 2015 starting at11 am.
