Thomas P. Egan

August 3, 1922 — May 28, 2020

Thomas P. (Tom) Egan went to be with his Lord and Savior on May 28, 2020 at the age of 97. He was born on Aug. 3, 1922 in Brooklyn, New York to Thomas C. & Elizabeth Egan. Tom proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force and was in World War II. He then began a lengthy career in Law Enforcement as a New York City Police Officer for 22 years. Upon retiring he moved his family from Brooklyn to Albuquerque, NM. He worked in Hospital Security at that time until his retirement. Tom was a very active member in the Rio Rancho community from his arrival in 1973. He belonged to many organizations and served in many capacities such as The Elks Club, Italian American Club, American Legion Post, VFW post, 10-13 Club Police organization, Rio Ramblers Square Dancers, Catholic War Veterans, Knights of Columbus, and Shriners.

Tom enjoyed traveling especially to Texas to visit family and attend Wurstfest, a German festival in New Braunfels, TX, which he enjoyed participating in for many years. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching his Denver Broncos. He was fortunate enough to participate in the Honor Flight for Veterans.

Anyone who knew Tom knew he was larger than life, a true comedian, and the center of attention at most gatherings. His singing voice was well known in all circles as he loved to serenade everyone, and his police stories were also well known & he always had many to pass on.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Ann, his parents, older brother, and his son-in-law Johnny Villarose. He is survived by his sister, Betty Larson, children, Kathy Villarose, Mary Ellen Franklin, Donna Wood (Craig), Thomas J. Egan (Michelle), son-in-law Dan Franklin, grandchildren, Ann-Marie Villarose, Deanna Villarose, Keri Bakke, Kristin Pierce, Tyler Wood, Amber Wood, and numerous nieces and nephews.
