MIRABAL-Thomas F., age 52, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Sunday, November 22, 2009 peacefully in his sleep. He graduated from Del Norte High School in 1975 where he played basketball. Shortly after graduating, he enlisted in the Army. He underwent basic training in Ft. Jackson followed by a tour in Bit Burg, Germany. From 1981 to 1985 he was stationed in Ft. Lewis Army Post. While at Ft. Lewis, he was a staff sergeant who led a unit responsible for the Chaparral Missile System. After being honorably discharged from the Army, he returned to Albuquerque where he worked at BDM as a quality assurance engineer retiring in the late 1990's. He frequented the Veteran's Hospital and enjoyed volunteering transporting disabled veterans. He was an avid tennis player who enjoyed competing in leagues and playing with his brothers. Tom was a loving and caring man who loved his two boys, Christopher and fianc�?©e Dorothy Frazee and Jerrod and girlfriend Carrie Robin Menapace. He also enjoyed watching his nephews and nieces play sports. In addition to his sons, Mr. Mirabal is survived by his mother, Tita Mirabal and brothers, Jim and wife Margie, Joe and wife Jacky, Dan and wife Judy, Tim and wife Jennie and David and wife Teri Mirabal and sister, Nadine and husband Kerry Clark. He was preceded in death by his father, Manuel Mirabal. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mr. Mirabal's name are suggested to the Juvenile Diabetes Association or to the Disabled American Veterans.
